Instruction

I've been teaching on the Internet and in the classroom since 2007.

Art Institute of Pittsburgh

Working for the Art Institute of Pittsburgh's Online division I have taught:

  • Advanced Illustration
  • Editorial Illustration
  • Photoshop,
  • Illustrator
  •  Painting
  • Figure Drawing.

Having that experience helped me to sharpen my evaluational skills and effectively work in an Online environment. Being different from a regular classroom, it required added motivation for the students to achieve their goals. One of the things I did was to help encourage and motivate them to have their work be the best they could do. I feel that I was largely successful with that.

Sadly, the Art Institute's Online school went out of business in March of 2019, but I appreciate the opportunity to work and teach in that environment.

Guilford Technical Community College

Since 2009 I have also been working for Guilford Technical Community College. It is a great experience to teach and learn new things about the programs I use in my work as a freelancer. Sometimes I am called upon to teach an unfamiliar program and take the opportunity to learn the program along with my students. The trick is to keep one week ahead of them as the class progresses. I developed the reputation for the guy who teaches the Adobe products, and teaching them keeps me up to date with many in the suite.

I have taught these programs:

  • Photoshop
  • Indesign
  • Illustrator
  • Dreamweaver
  •  Flash
  • Acrobat
  • Digital Imaging
  • Photoshop Elements
  • Intro to Graphic Design
  • Wordpress

I am still working at GTCC where I continue teaching Adobe programs. I am planning on making specialty classes featuring Photoshop for Portraits, Photoshop for Landscapes, Premiere Pro and After Effects.
